AUSTIN Police arrested a man Thursday after they say they found approximately 40 pounds of marijuana in a northwest Austin apartment.
The arrest affidavit for Matthew Eric Weiner, 28, states Cedar Park and Leander police executed a search warrant on a Melrose Trail apartment on April 27 following an investigation into the distribution of marijuana. Police detained Weiner in the parking lot, and police located marijuana in a bedroom and closet of the apartment.
The affidavit states after Weiner was read his Miranda warning, he told police it was his marijuana and that his roommate had nothing to do with it. He also said he goes to Portland, Ore. to buy marijuana and ship it to Austin.
Weiner was booked into the Travis County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana, manufacture or deliver of a controlled substance and a parole violation. Bond has been set at a combined $100,000 for the first two charges, but bond is not listed for the parole violation charge. A booking photo for Weiner is not available as of late Monday afternoon.
